32BJ SEIU has begun negotiating a new four-year contract for the 14,000 security guards it represents in the city, the organization said Wednesday. The union is negotiating with the Realty Advisory Board on Labor Relations and a group representing 16 security companies. The current contract, which expires on April 30, was concluded shortly before the previous contract expired in May 2016. Initially, the union and the Realty Advisory Board failed to agree on higher wages and health insurance options, City Limits reported at the time. The union, which represents security guards in offices and other buildings, today began contract negotiations with landlords.
